The Sarasota Misguided Loser Squad

You may notice that I added a ‘SARjacking’ Badge to my sidebar. This is to support a movement – one that all Real Estate professionals on the web need to be aware of.  Please read about the Sarasota MLS board and how they have stolen a successful domain from one of their members. Thanks To SEO Mentors and Fans

October - 18 - 2008

Real fast – I was emailed a question like this today about 301’s and categories so I’ll share the method.  I say “half dirty” becasue though 301’s are common in SEO some will call it spam or black hat.

This is common to many people, I’m not trying to impress anyone but sometime simple ideas are brought to me by others that make me wonder why I’ve never thought of them.

Anyway…  Read the rest of this entry »

iPhone SEO – Web Apps and AdSense

Why SEO an iPhone ported site?

America is Truly Awesome

September - 11 - 2008

September 11.  Instead of showing what you will see everywhere else – a reminder of the attacks in video form (though some want to believe this was an “inside job”), I’m posting an article I saved from about a year ago.  Greg Walker is (was) a Rutgers College sophomore and full credit for this goes to him.  I initially found Read the rest of this entry »

Another update about this site getting split up a little.

Today “knoxing.com” is up – it’s totally unrefined but at least it’s there now.  It’s the Denver Web Design part of the Knox Solutions Co-op. Read the rest of this entry »

Learnin’ Some SEO, Eh

September - 6 - 2008

Update – Sep. 20 2009.  I’m back now and added some pics of the trip.

I’ll be in Nanaimo, BC (that’s in Canada, Mr. Oakley) this September 15-18 attending the REW SEO conference.  I’m pretty excited to see that part of the world and meet some people I’ve chatted with for years but never physically met.

REW is RealEstateWebmasters.com run by Morgan Carey and they’re providing a venue for a few days of classes by some industry greats such as Read the rest of this entry »

Knox Site Change – Part 1

September - 1 - 2008

I’ve told you all that this site is getting restructured.  Today, the home page actually goes to my SEO page.  WOW – what a concept for an SEO site… i know (groan).

Edit – This is actually going to fluctuate a while due to some back-end issues.

On the top menu you will see a link to my blog page.  This is step one to what I mentioned last month about changing things around because of the fragmented mix of SEO, iPhones and basic blog opinion articles.

So, thanks for realizing this change and sticking around.

denver cams iphoneI was asked recently by a company if it were possible to build a simple web app to display the images from their web cameras to an iPhone web app so the employer could watch his property while away via his iPhone.

It really is simple, I built a quick web app using the Knox iPhone template to illustrate this. Read the rest of this entry »

denver eo warningThe Denver SEO fraud!

I was a little upset when I was contacted last month from a “client” that was pretty upset that “I” took a bunch of money from them and didn’t provide the contracted service. “Ummm…. Who are you?”

It turns out there’s an “SEO Speaker” here in Denver that is selling THEIR SEO SERVICES using MY NAME as a selling point. Read the rest of this entry »

  • Online Brochures Redundant Failures

    December - 15 - 2006

Try it – ask a business “why do you want a brochure?” and they will just stare at you like you just said something you weren’t supposed to bring up.
A brochure is a given – a standard procedure, a marketing cliché. This is why so many websites are failures – they are no more [...]

  • Focus Is Key To Online Success

    June - 11 - 2007

Just have to say how nice it is to FINALLY have a client that is interested in their web presence as I am. Too often (especially the last 6 months for me) I find people who has a great idea. They want is marketed to the moon and back. We meet, we [...]

  • Retaining Readers By Adding Content

    January - 2 - 2008

2007 is over. I’ve added the 4th Quarter ‘Bragstat’ below, with markers of when I posted here. The purpose though isn’t to say “look at my #’s” but to remind everyone that posting new content brings past readers back to your blog.

Bottom line is that if your site goes stale, so will [...]

  • Web 2.0 In Plain English

    November - 26 - 2006

You’ve heard it, you wonder what it is, yet you don’t ask. (I understand, you would sound silly)
Web 2.0 is a new animal, a new kind of web build – a new experience. Wikipedia defines Web 2.0 as a “second generation of services available over the World Wide Web that lets people collaborate [...]

  • Building Authority Websites The Right Way

    January - 22 - 2007

Authority is an “accepted source of expert information and advice”.
On the web, a link to a page is a vote, and its existence is because the site linked to is found to be useful and informative – in a perfect world. So, if more sites link to it, it becomes authoritative.

  • Turkey in Turkey A Digital Tagger

    November - 14 - 2006

So this morning about 8am I got hacked. I admit it. But just as I drive an extremely fast car, I also admit to getting some speeding tickets – it goes with the territory. Anyway – first thing I noticed this morning upon clicking to this site was that I ended [...]

  • Are You An Angry Poster?

    December - 29 - 2006

We’ve all done it (I do it too often) but there’s a place for it. Don’t post when you’re angry.
Forums are great places for “heated exchanges” (it actually brings in traffic) but in general, an angry post is usually something the author regrets.

  • Always PAY Your Graphic Artist

    March - 25 - 2007

So, I’m building a site about Shiba Inus. (those are dogs) I have a shiba, great dog. His tail really is his signature. I AM NOT an artist, but my friend is. So, naturally I asked him to draw a picture of a Shiba Inu and to get that signature tail [...]

  • 5 Nifty WordPress Plug-ins

    June - 12 - 2007

Yes I use WordPress – it’s awesome. I got an email asking what plug-ins I use here, but I’ll get to that another time
Here are some plug-ins that I don’t use, but LOVE. I’ll get them in here in time, but use these on client sites.
Take a look at them, they’re all pretty nice.
