Top Dozen Knox Articles

August - 21 - 2007

Looking over my logs I’ve found the top dozen most popular articles I’ve posted (ratio of views/day) and have listed them below. Together they really do cover the purpose of this blog, so I guess I’m happy.

(The templates DO WORK with the new iPhone 4 and newest iOS and ‘droids’.)

If you want to create a web app for your iPhone or port a current site that actually looks and behaves like an actual iPhone app, then look no further.

Two ways to build iPhone webapps:

  1. Code it with a template (here)
  2. Create iPhone websites via WordPress theme (oh-so-easy)

So, here I’ve built a template to help web developers create applications for the iPhone. Notice that it uses the Apple resource images for the ‘Home’ and ‘Contact’ button. Included are all the source files to make basic apps to interactive ones, with all the needed source files. Also within the template are instructions on how to incorporate other iPhone apps such as google maps and the media player. Tap-to-call is implemented easily as well – basically everything you want in order to make a nice functional site or to port an existing website. Read the rest of this entry »

Another Time-Suck Found

August - 9 - 2007

Ok, while surfin’ I found a great time killer and thought I’d share it with you. I added a photo of me and a partner here to present this great diddy.

Create your own show at DanceSisterDance.com. You can decide, add some politicians or your boss. Found this originally to make a b-day card for my dad – mom sure giggled. After you make the vid it sends you a link for the hi-quality version.

Fixing iPhone Stuck Pixels

August - 5 - 2007

You love your iPhone, but like me, you may have began to see some stuck pixels. Stuck pixels are not dead pixels – they’re stuck on a color and don’t refresh with screen redraws.

“Solutions” abound on the web to try to fix the stuck pixels on your iPhone but they are silly and uses an animated .gif to cycle through the various colors.

Though these work for standard LCD displays on actual computers, they don’t on the iPhone because the processor speed doesn’t allow the .gif to animate quickly enough to affect the display.

Frustrated with my one stuck pixel I made a file viewable on the iPhone that uses javascript to cycle the colors by actual hex color at a frequency needed to help out you iPhone users with this frustrating blemish.

iPhone users, click here to enter. Let it roll for a little while (expect some heat) and don’t worry about the display brightness dimmin’ over time, I made it refresh before the phone’s auto-brightness takes over. The repair window is sized for the iPhone. If the menu is in the way, just rotate it.

Though there is no guarantee this will work in YOUR case, it has mine and one colleague. If you find other solutions please let me know and I’ll get it exposed for the rest of us. ‘Til then, I hope this helps you.

If you have found this useful, could you consider buying me a cup of coffee?

Cat Lovers Post

July - 29 - 2007

Maybe you love cats. Maybe love stepping on nails and rolling your ankles too.

I do not like cats, I am allergic to them and also know what they do to their owners IMMEDIATELY AFTER they die.

Ok, if you’re like me you’ll enjoy these few pics, if you aren’t, then go snuggle up with your cute little fuzz-ball that’s only waiting for you to have a heart attack. Read the rest of this entry »

No Anchor Advantage

July - 18 - 2007

As a gift to readers (some have noticed) I have the infamous “no-follow” tag removed from comment links to reward those that comment. My viewers are a shy bunch for they rarely comment. My logs show that I’m pushin’ close to 0% – then I compare that to the actual email I receive from here and It makes me wonder. Hundreds of views = less than 1 comment. Ok, I may be boring, but I wanted to be sure. Read the rest of this entry »

iPhone Wallpaper For Guys

July - 8 - 2007

I’m tired of fish, plants and pretty landscapes. Are you? You may have managed to neuter yourself and get an iPhone. I mentioned before in iPhone with testosterone where to get a great iPhone sleeve that isn’t clear or pink, that’s a start.

As far as the wallpaper that comes with the iPhone, Apple may want to consider a few more consultants.

Here’s a collection of wallpapers (you can click the thumb and snag the image) that will most likely keep you playing with your toy for even longer. Yes, they’re all formatted for the iPhone Read the rest of this entry »

iPhone With Testosterone

July - 4 - 2007

So I was away for a few days. Yes, I was playing with my new toy. Go get your girly gooey gadget (I did) but don’t cry when you drop it – the scuffs and scratches may do just that!

I KNOW! EVERYONE is blogging about the iPhone. I’m not. Yes, this device is wonderful – mostly. What I’m concerned with is BREAKING IT. Read the rest of this entry »

Got Another

June - 28 - 2007

Thanks to a Starbuck buddy for holding my 5 minutes of effort for a great pic. Telling the truth is a powerful thing. (also an ultimate defense to frivolous claims) Read the rest of this entry »

Greg Boser – the evil SEO that has done what he was contracted to do is suspected of committing a horrible act, HIS JOB.

As posted in forums and blogs all over the real estate space and even on Matt Cutt’s blog, real estate website owners are very upset that Google has penalized sites employing tactics that go against the stated Google guidelines.

Ok, first of all it sucks to have a website de-listed or penalized in any way. BUT – whining and crying, complaining and blaming and divining the “reason” is stupid, especially when you admit your site was spammy. Read the rest of this entry »

Idea From Denver PD

June - 23 - 2007

Yes, I got ANOTHER ticket! My time of badging out of traffic stops is over. I’ve invested in 360` radar/laser detectors. Light refracting license plate covers (for those stupid photo red light jobs) and I keep a live feed of dispatch running on one speaker.

Ok, I COULD slow down, I know, but if that’s what I wanted to do I’d buy a freakin ricer. Read the rest of this entry »
