  1. You lost me on this one Knox. I get that they guy on the video seems to be a grumpy REALTOR, and I do not think the video would fly with actual home buyers.

Great to see you posting though. Oh, what is up with the SAR Domain Jacking people?

  2. Knox says:

James, that’s our buddy from REW, was pokin’ him a little:)

Its funny, this video was picked up almost instantly when I posted it some time ago by a group of realtors (not gonna say who) and they ripped it apart with the same, “not gonna fly with Buyers” or “how dare he make fun of clients” comments. Hey, I came from the engineering field, we use to go out on fridays with the guys and gals from the office and have a few drinks and poke fun at people in the office. It is what you do. This was a blow off steam video, poking fun at an industry that is riddled with people with no humor…this is my way (as well as others) of infusing some humor in this field of professionals. After I identified myself to those realtors that were picking it apart in an online forum, and asked them if they ever experienced these frustrations, 100% of them said yes and decided to look at the comedic value of the video…then I was their hero.

The funny thing is, after this was posted, my website traffic increased exponentially. People wanted to see what this guy was all about. My goal was to get my listings looked at…and they were, in droves. I haven’t looked back since then and continue to apply video, blogging, viral marketing techniques, etc that creates social collisions, content that inspires disscussion, good or bad, it doesn’t really matter. Poking fun at people, as long as it is not at a specific person, is ok and I never cross that line…but having a little fun to stir up the day, makes for a better professional experience!

You’ll be surprised, most people don’t mind being poked fun at..as long as it is not hurtful…sometimes they don’t see themselves until you pull out the mirror and show them what is really going on.

Life is too short, and I want to enjoy my ride…don’t you!

  4. Knox says:

That’s exactly why I liked it! Everything you described is what made me chuckle when i watched it. We’re on the same page with just about everything, I think.

  5. rmasse10 says:

If we are on the same page of some book, I hope that book comes with crayons!

  6. Lou Lynch says:

I like it too. I couldn’t see you picking up new clients as a result of its use, but then again maybe you will. I just watched the seller video from the same series. Looks like “our buddy” has a little too much time on his hands.

  7. Knox says:

    Armasse10- there’s no other way!

  8. Knox says:

AHHHHH, ok, he’s the ROCK,i get it now!!

  9. rmasse10 says:

Lou, some things you just do for yourself…this is one of them!…but as a result of this video that started a slew of other things…my business went thru the roof…seems strange, but sometimes unorthodox techniques yield strange and wonderous results…

but that’s another story we can have over a drink sometime…we can meet up at the starbucks that knoxs’ goes to…I’ll just look him up on brightkite right now…!

  10. Knox says:

lol – Britekite, the stalker app for iPhone:)

Little movies for products and services can do wonders even when totally unrelated. Remember “where in the world is Matt” and your recent “Badgering car salesmen” – they’re great.

    Please come by anytime!

  11. Lou Lynch says:

@rmasse10 Oh believe me, I get it. Anything quirky has the potential to go viral and create exposure that can help a business.

Personally I loved the video(s) and love that you are always looking for ways to innovate. I was just mentioning the fact that sometimes real estate customers get a little defensive, that’s all.

Keep up the good work, can’t wait for the next installment.

  12. rmasse10 says:

Decided to checkin to see what has been written lately. I appreciate all the kind words from Knox and Lou. Actually my next installment will be on Showtime actually…that’s the cable company “Showtime”. Some California Producers found my wife and I online and asked us to help film an up and coming episode of Penn & Teller “Bullshit”. Oddly enough, they are in their 8th season and have won 3 emmys. The episode is on “America Fascination with the perfect lawn” (of which mine is horrible) and they filmed here in Tampa. We had a blast doing it. Had I not been out there online, they would have never found us. Again, the oddest things bring greatest results (I know you guys understand that, all too well). I just hope Penn doesn’t make me look too stupid…lol.

Thanks guys and I look forward to meeting you guys face to face sometime hopefully in the near future!

  13. Knox says:

Best way for us to met face to face will be in BC this summer!

  14. Carolyn G-Tu says:

I think that Rob has updated this video so it’s not showing up properly here now. It’s a good one.

I missed out on a lot of the earlier discussion. I definitely think Rob and Carla might pick up some clients because of this – I think people tied into technology will gravitate towards them-it’s one of the things people often talk about with real estate sales – people like to work with others they have things in common with. I think this applies to many different businesses and not just real estate.

  15. rmasse10 says:

    Hey Carolyn,

I have not done anything to the video…so not sure what the problem is but it looks ok to me. In either event, with the way things are now…tech people seem to have the edge when it comes to real estate or anything that is online related. Not that we are smarter than anyone else, but we are just more widely found online…

Thanks for the compliments and anything I can do to help you out on the other side of the world, let me know…you got my number

    see ya

  • Who Do I Look Like? MyHeritage, WTF

    January - 10 - 2009

Jaz showed me MyHeritage where she had her photo scanned and compared to celebrities.  She’s pretty, so the results would be too, that makes sense.
Hers came back with a pattern that mixes Josie Maran, Kate Beckinsale, Fiona Xie, Brooke Burns and Kristin Davis.  Not bad.
    Then I did mine….  now I have a complex, or two, [...]

It’s official.  EBAspace.com is going to start focusing on Denver Real Estate, specifically for Denver home buyers and Exclusive Buyer Agents.  Pretty clever eh?  Ya know, the whole EBA thing and all.
Anyway – this blog content (some) is moving to Knoxing.com and will have all my silly stories and such.  The content from that domain [...]

September 11.  Instead of showing what you will see everywhere else – a reminder of the attacks in video form (though some want to believe this was an “inside job”), I’m posting an article I saved from about a year ago.  Greg Walker is (was) a Rutgers College sophomore and full credit for this goes [...]

  • Flip Mino HD, YouTube, Encoding Tutorial

    December - 30 - 2008

Rich media such as as video on a website is something we all want, don’t you?  But quality equipment usually doesn’t lend itself to an amateur.

The Flip Mino HD is most likely the easiest to use HD camcorder out there.  It’s smaller than my iPhone, captures great HD video and high quality sound.  It’s light, [...]

  • Cheating Online Bites You Back

    March - 23 - 2007

Today I’ll talk about email, privacy and the gut dropping feeling people get when they get “caught” by their spouses.
A woman contacted me freaking out because her husband “found” some personal email of hers. The messages were harmless out of context, but did bring things into a fair perspective when coupled with behavior.
    She called [...]

Well, I was wrong. When the contest began I threw out an article with a hottie real estate agent and she didn’t win – but I think she’s capable of finding employment. Eric Blackwell is at the top of the serp – congratulations Eric. Maybe after review another contestant will take the [...]

  • Gulf Shores Condos Caters To What I Want

    December - 5 - 2008

Today we hit 17 degrees and it snowed all day!  A couple times on the phone I found myself saying “I need my beach”.  I mentioned I’m getting rid of the ‘ol party pad in Destin (see my pics in the menu) and sliding it, with some maturity to a Condo in Gulf Shores.
    So, while [...]

  • How To Win Sales & Influence Spiders

    March - 30 - 2007

I met a colleague at Starbucks this morning and he had a copy of “How to Win Sales & Influence Spiders” by Catherine (Cat) Seda with him.

  • Connectivity Instigates Creativity, Creation?

    December - 30 - 2006

Our brains are composed of millions of individual neurons which are not connected, but do have simple input/output devices, a basic firing mechanism allowing a neuron to connect with another, or a network of neurons. With this architecture we create, grow, interact, organize and participate in the world around us.
The web is composed of [...]
