Benefits of Avatars in Blogs

December - 19 - 2007 Share

blog avatarsI like to make it easy for my readers to notice instantly if I have a new post upon visiting my blogs. Using avatars is a way. I like to make them somewhat attention grabbing. Immediately readers see there’s something new.

I’ve been asked where I find them. All over! Over time I’ve built up a library of images found on the web. Some from royalty free sites, from myspace, free avatar sites and so on.

I also collect images I find amusing, there really weren’t any rules – I just liked them.

I use the collection when I write and put together an image for most articles that may be a play on the title or “somewhat” relevant to the content.

So, I’m sharing it – I’ve used my own private library internally and decided to link it up on the right menu. Feel free to cruise through and grab what you want. If there are any that are trademarked I’ll try to parse them out in time, unless they reference a url with more of the same.

Hope you enjoy some of them and have photoshop available to mock them up. Some of the images are animated – I know, that’s annoying at times but I liked them – it’s my blog.

That is cool, I have found certain images to be extremely amusing as well, and used them several times in certain posts. One that I am thinking of just says to me I am puzzled and am going to find out the truth. (well that is what it says to me, not sure what it says to anyone else).

Nice post Knox, and thank you.

  2. I’ve already snatched up a few of your avatars! Thank you.

So this morning about 8am I got hacked. I admit it. But just as I drive an extremely fast car, I also admit to getting some speeding tickets – it goes with the territory. Anyway – first thing I noticed this morning upon clicking to this site was that I ended up IN TURKEY. WTF! [...]

You’ve heard it, you wonder what it is, yet you don’t ask. (I understand, you would sound silly) Web 2.0 is a new animal, a new kind of web build – a new experience. Wikipedia defines Web 2.0 as a “second generation of services available over the World Wide Web that lets people collaborate and [...]

The URL of this domain is odd, I know.  I REALLY don’t want to change it for the links built are natural, from blogs and tech forums and the nightmare of emailing… you get the idea. I’m seasoning other urls for the “business” side of this as some know but I’m still left with this [...]

  • Retaining Readers By Adding Content

    January - 2 - 2008

2007 is over. I’ve added the 4th Quarter ‘Bragstat’ below, with markers of when I posted here. The purpose though isn’t to say “look at my #’s” but to remind everyone that posting new content brings past readers back to your blog. Bottom line is that if your site goes stale, so will your numbers. [...]
