Denver SEO & Reputation Management

On December - 20 - 2007

seo for dummiesWow, I really do go a while without writing about SEO. So while I mostly throw out tips and toys I need to remind myself (you?) that I run a Reputation Management network from Denver and I’m pretty much the only real SEO in Denver.

Though there are some others with “SEO packages” they really aren’t at a level that could be called professional. Yes, they do come up in the SERPS for ONE OR TWO phrases (good going guys). I think I need to put this site back on top again.

Subsequently, I amended the Read the rest of this entry »

Benefits of Avatars in Blogs

On December - 19 - 2007

blog avatarsI like to make it easy for my readers to notice instantly if I have a new post upon visiting my blogs. Using avatars is a way. I like to make them somewhat attention grabbing. Immediately readers see there’s something new.

I’ve been asked where I find them. All over! Over time I’ve built up a library of images found on the web. Some from royalty free sites, from myspace, free avatar sites and so on. Read the rest of this entry »

Free iPhone Ringtones – No Hacking

On December - 17 - 2007

It’s easy, it’s legal and it’s safe. STOP paying Apple to make custom ringtones for your iPhone! If you think iTunes is the only way beside trying to hack your half-grand toy then think again. iTunes makes you PAY, hacking can “brick” it – but a quiet release of Garage Band will do it for you.

Upgrade Grarage Band to version 4.1.1 for iLife ‘08. You already paid enough for your mac and handheld wonder-toy so don’t worry-Apple won’t either. Read the rest of this entry »

c|net – “Knox Has a Reputation”

On December - 15 - 2007

I was emailed today and notified I was mentioned on c|net. Cool – my template for iPhone web apps was the story.

Executive Editor, Tom Merritt at c|net networks says that I “have a reputation”, have “great friendly hacker tools” and that I’ve “been around a while”.

I’m happy to have been featured for the kudos (and traffic) but more than that – I’m happy to have provided something useful to users.

Thanks c|net, Tom and thank you users! Check out c|net for more cool vids on technology, tips, tricks and gadget reviews.

Now I wonder what that “reputation” comment was about.

Google Indents – Doubles Are Good!

On December - 12 - 2007

Google IndentsThe coveted “double listing” or “indents” on a Google SERP is not an accident or just plain luck. Site architecture and link strategies working in concert is what will reward you with a double listing. More importantly it will generate more visits to your site – that means more money!

But why stop there? Niche Saturation is not only about getting to page one. Not just about being #1 and #2. Not even about being #1 – 6!

It’s about displacing your competition. It’s about creating the illusion of greater choice to searchers and funneling money to your pocket.

Holiday Escape Without Bruises

On December - 6 - 2007

Yes, I’ve been a little busy. I’ve had a few “Where are you’s”, “Are you dead’s?” and such. No – I’m still kickin’ around but did have to take a bloggin’ break to finish some projects. I learned to NOT announce my breaks for that’s when I seem to get hacked…..

As well as finishing some custom WordPress themes I’ve enjoyed the company of some Colorado NSA members (what a GREAT bunch of people) and also attended a few Holiday – EXCUSE ME – I mean CHRISTMAS Parties – I am not that p.c. Read the rest of this entry »

  • Retaining Readers By Adding Content

    January - 2 - 2008

2007 is over. I’ve added the 4th Quarter ‘Bragstat’ below, with markers of when I posted here. The purpose though isn’t to say “look at my #’s” but to remind everyone that posting new content brings past readers back to your blog.

Bottom line is that if your site goes stale, so will [...]

  • The Home Page Dilemma

    December - 17 - 2006

Ever notice that websites’ most relevant information is often times a click or two away from the home page? There’s a contact page, an about page, services or product page, etc.
After all these supporting sub-pages are written, businesses seem to be scratching their heads.

  • iPhone Developers Needed – I’ll Hook You Up

    August - 4 - 2008

I get a lot of requests for iPhone web apps and apps for download through iTunes. I’m saying no to them almost daily. (no offense to those asking – I’m actually a busy guy)
    COMPANIES WANT THEIR SITES PORTED!
iPhone developers – send me your contact info and I’ll send the leads out to you that [...]

  • What A Satisfying Shame

    November - 6 - 2006

What a great day! A major competitor of a client of mine has panicked. Don’t get me wrong, I really respect this company, and they’ve been a worthy adversary for a time. They must have thought the same of my client because they have completely rewritten their website. Yes the site [...]

  • Gulf Shores Condos Caters To What I Want

    December - 5 - 2008

Today we hit 17 degrees and it snowed all day!  A couple times on the phone I found myself saying “I need my beach”.  I mentioned I’m getting rid of the ‘ol party pad in Destin (see my pics in the menu) and sliding it, with some maturity to a Condo in Gulf Shores.
    So, while [...]

  • What Is Relevant To SEO?

    January - 24 - 2008

The collective wish of billions of searches.
Google Sets provides lists of what your users type into a search box to find – hopefully you.
So make your post/site/page relevant to what not only what YOU want it to be about, but those looking for you.
If I’m going to write a post that I want to [...]

  • “Green Hat” SEO

    October - 26 - 2006

You’ve read it, you’ve heard it. The “ethical” seo’s say “we’re white hat” and that the evil ones are “black hat” – c’mon. I too, in my “office” mode and voice will spout it, yes I am a “white hat” seo. WHY would any real seo say they were evil? To [...]

  • Denver SEO Shoots Straight

    October - 4 - 2007

Going back to what I do, I’m an SEO here in Denver. I was asked today about my little tagline I use in email: “A Denver SEO That Shoots Straight” I used to have and here it is. It’s a play on words. In my former life I was an officer. [...]

  • SEO, Music, Driving – umm, yeah.

    March - 27 - 2009

The video is lame and shaky, but it doesn’t really matter – it’s visual filler.
I’ve taken this month “off” from work, yes – spent it with family and close friends.
During this local vacation I took advantage of the light winter.  Before the recent storm hit I drove up to Conifer with my friend and colleague [...]

  • Dictating SEO Strategy To Your SEO – BAD Idea

    December - 27 - 2006

Nikola Tesla gave us AC power transmission, the coil transformer, wireless communication and hundreds of other inventions.
Tesla was not only an inventor and electrical engineer but was also a great visual thinker. He could “see” an entire system in his head and often didn’t test his ideas in a lab. If he tested them [...]

  • Real Estate SEO – Defamation Per se

    March - 5 - 2008

    Defamation Per se
Some statements are so defamatory that they are considered defamation per se; and the plaintiff does not have to prove that the statements harmed his reputation or that the statements were false.
The classic examples of defamation per se are allegations of serious sexual misconduct; allegations of serious criminal misbehavior; or allegations that a [...]
