Knoxing – App Development, SEO, iPhones & Stuff

So, I’m building a site about Shiba Inus. (those are dogs) I have a shiba, great dog. His tail really is his signature. I AM NOT an artist, but my friend is. So, naturally I asked him to draw a picture of a Shiba Inu and to get that signature tail in it. Here’s My Shiba:

And here’s what he sent me!

NOT exactly what I thought I asked for. But, I guess you get what you pay for.

Nice, I had that experience with a web developer. I should have known better but lesson learned.

  • Knox Favorite 2007 Web Flicks

    January - 8 - 2008

Ok, my plate is pretty full so this isn’t a grand post. Below is a snapshot of my current desktop – you see I’m pretty busy. Even with Mac OSX’s great filing system you can still easily fill your desk (and month) with work. Instead of meat, I’ll give a splash of entertainment tonight. Looking [...]

  • Apple Does It Again With iPhone!

    January - 9 - 2007

Apple always amazes us, they have stated that they aren’t computer or software manufactures, but innovators. Apple announced the long rumored iPhone today – and it blows away the dreams of mac fans. The iPhone is revolutionary. Integrated is a widescreen lcd with over 160 pixel/inch (that’s likely twice the resolution of your monitor) and [...]

  • Flip Mino HD, YouTube, Encoding Tutorial

    December - 30 - 2008

Rich media such as as video on a website is something we all want, don’t you?  But quality equipment usually doesn’t lend itself to an amateur. The Flip Mino HD is most likely the easiest to use HD camcorder out there.  It’s smaller than my iPhone, captures great HD video and high quality sound.  It’s [...]

  • Connectivity Instigates Creativity, Creation?

    December - 30 - 2006

Our brains are composed of millions of individual neurons which are not connected, but do have simple input/output devices, a basic firing mechanism allowing a neuron to connect with another, or a network of neurons. With this architecture we create, grow, interact, organize and participate in the world around us. The web is composed of [...]

  • Logomaniacs Mess Up Your Website

    December - 13 - 2006

The 80’s are long gone – but look around and notice all the downtown buildings all topped with huge neon lit logos – electrified egos of the top floor executives inside them. I live in Denver and the evenings here are dowsed with a glowing blue – residents greet visitors with “welcome to downtown Qwest” [...]

  • No Anchor Advantage

    July - 18 - 2007

As a gift to readers (some have noticed) I have the infamous “no-follow” tag removed from comment links to reward those that comment. My viewers are a shy bunch for they rarely comment. My logs show that I’m pushin’ close to 0% – then I compare that to the actual email I receive from here [...]

  • God Reads the Knox Blog

    March - 14 - 2008

Turns out God reads this blog. I received an email that says: “May God find you and touches your heart once and for all to stop the attitude you’ve taken upon you with this web site to condem many.” It was from “email@god.com” so I gave it some attention. It was also from the same [...]

  • Obama Supporters

    November - 6 - 2008

This president-elect is not the Messiah. He is not going to “raise the consciousness of the planet” or “change the world”. He is one man, just a man who will be Chief Executive of one nation. (Yes, one nation under God). Please remember the values this country was founded upon. And in the future, please [...]

  • Better WordPress Header Images

    January - 6 - 2008

I love WordPress, but it’s pretty dang ugly out of the box. Yes, there are many free themes you can download, some of them are nicer looking, most suck for SEO, some are average and a couple are pretty good. Most avid bloggers don’t want a blog that looks like another, so a custom job [...]

  • iPhone Color Picker Web App

    January - 22 - 2008

I couldn’t resist. You all know I develop for the iPhone as well as my “real job” – so here’s the predictable follow-up article for the color picker post below. Apple accepted it – nice. After presenting the color picker tool, I ported it to the iPhone. I thought it would be handy for client [...]

  • Short List To Unique Blogs

    June - 5 - 2007

A tech savvy viewer won’t give you any credibility if your blog looks like everything else. Get a unique look. I love this wordpress template generator. No, I wouldn’t use its generated template as a theme, but it’s a great way to experiment with colors and gain inspiration. If you find something you like you [...]

  • What A Satisfying Shame

    November - 6 - 2006

What a great day! A major competitor of a client of mine has panicked. Don’t get me wrong, I really respect this company, and they’ve been a worthy adversary for a time. They must have thought the same of my client because they have completely rewritten their website. Yes the site is beautiful. Yes the [...]
