Knoxing – App Development, SEO, iPhones & Stuff

I’ve been told I’m a little sarcastic in my articles – that’s not sarcasm, but confidence. Ok, sarcasm too. So, to keep things light I’m ordering some new office posters.

We’ve all seen those things – the rowboats visually presenting a “teamwork” metaphor and other silly things to “motivate” the 8-5 corporate soldiers.

These posters are in every office in America, and I think they are designed to make the employees feel small, demoralized and unappreciated.

So I’m livening things up with these from AllPosters.com.

  • ‘Ping’ – Sounds Like ‘Bring’

    January - 15 - 2008

WordPress by default will let Ping-o-matic know you have updated posts and then ping a few other services. A ‘Ping’ is a basic program that lets you verify that a particular Internet address exists and can accept requests. The verb ping in the Blog world means the act of notifying a service you have updated [...]

  • Sarasota MLS

    October - 19 - 2008

The Sarasota Misguided Loser Squad You may notice that I added a ‘SARjacking’ Badge to my sidebar. This is to support a movement – one that all Real Estate professionals on the web need to be aware of.  Please read about the Sarasota MLS board and how they have stolen a successful domain from one [...]

Good video, and asks a few questions we talk about here.

  • Another Time-Suck Found

    August - 9 - 2007

Ok, while surfin’ I found a great time killer and thought I’d share it with you. I added a photo of me and a partner here to present this great diddy. Create your own show at DanceSisterDance.com. You can decide, add some politicians or your boss. Found this originally to make a b-day card for [...]

  • SEO As Afterthought Can Kill Your Business

    November - 20 - 2006

I can understand the thought process. A company holds a meeting and it’s decided that they want/need a website. They shop around, gather bids and ultimately write a huge check to some firm or somebody for a state-of-the-art website with so many bells and whistles that it would make Cpt. Kirk envious. This company has [...]

  • c|net – “Knox Has a Reputation”

    December - 15 - 2007

I was emailed today and notified I was mentioned on c|net. Cool – my template for iPhone web apps was the story. Executive Editor, Tom Merritt at c|net networks says that I “have a reputation”, have “great friendly hacker tools” and that I’ve “been around a while”. I’m happy to have been featured for the [...]

  • Testing Flip Mino HD in Car for New Website

    January - 10 - 2009

I have a lot of excess clips from testing the FLIP HD for an upcoming video blog.  Instead of dumping it, here is some with various lighting.  I tried it from within a car.  This seams to be where the Flip suffers – no image stabilization. Below is the result.

  • Knox Favorite 2007 Web Flicks

    January - 8 - 2008

Ok, my plate is pretty full so this isn’t a grand post. Below is a snapshot of my current desktop – you see I’m pretty busy. Even with Mac OSX’s great filing system you can still easily fill your desk (and month) with work. Instead of meat, I’ll give a splash of entertainment tonight. Looking [...]

  • Seo’s vs. Spammers (Cowards)

    January - 29 - 2007

Doorway pages that redirect us without explanation, synthetic pages auto-generated by software, pages like toilet paper containing nothing but links, pages without exits except an ad to click, pages with ads disguised as menus, pages containing long lists of every conceivable search query but no information. The only thing these web pages have in common [...]

  • Connectivity Instigates Creativity, Creation?

    December - 30 - 2006

Our brains are composed of millions of individual neurons which are not connected, but do have simple input/output devices, a basic firing mechanism allowing a neuron to connect with another, or a network of neurons. With this architecture we create, grow, interact, organize and participate in the world around us. The web is composed of [...]

  • Retaining Readers By Adding Content

    January - 2 - 2008

2007 is over. I’ve added the 4th Quarter ‘Bragstat’ below, with markers of when I posted here. The purpose though isn’t to say “look at my #’s” but to remind everyone that posting new content brings past readers back to your blog. Bottom line is that if your site goes stale, so will your numbers. [...]

  • Thanks To SEO Mentors and Fans

    October - 18 - 2008

After believing I was close to hitting the One Million mark for unique visitors to this blog I started crunching the numbers. I use 3 different metrics systems on this site to gauge it and don’t want to count any false hits, spiders, etc. but I can now confidently say I did it last night. [...]
