Are You An Angry Poster?

December - 29 - 2006 Share

We’ve all done it (I do it too often) but there’s a place for it. Don’t post when you’re angry.

Forums are great places for “heated exchanges” (it actually brings in traffic) but in general, an angry post is usually something the author regrets.

A personal blog is a place where you can be you, yes, even angry – but you can get your angry point across while injecting some humor too. Sarcasm is difficult to convey in writing, but the overall tone of the blog will usually give your readers the correct perspective.

Anger – maybe in a blog with restraint but don’t do it in a forum. Angry forum posters, even with valid points are usually ganged up upon and you may end up shunned.

If it’s too late, don’t get defensive – it makes it worse. Just restate your point with a friendlier tone, apologize for any hurt feelings, flatter the other members and move on.

Sure, I’m guilty for hammering out angry posts and responses and hitting the submit button without censoring myself at times (I actually got in lots of trouble once) and I can tell you from experience – take a break and recompose yourself, or save it for a personal blog or MySpace – where you have control and can later correct it.

This goes for email too. Oh, guess it wouldn’t hurt to mention that’s it’s a bad idea to post drunk as well.

  • Create iPhone Web Apps With Knox iPhone Template

    August - 20 - 2007

(The templates DO WORK with the new iPhone 4 and newest iOS and ‘droids’.) If you want to create a web app for your iPhone or port a current site that actually looks and behaves like an actual iPhone app, then look no further. Two ways to build iPhone webapps: Code it with a template [...]

  • A Bust Gut & Clean Colon

    May - 13 - 2008

This morning started light. I blog, so I also read blogs. Sometime I cross a headline that makes my dog wonder what’s wrong with me as his ears perk up while I spontaneously bust out laughing. Two of them here. First was found by David Naylor and the headline is Great tits cope well with [...]

  • Web Death Default -No SEO Can Save You

    December - 1 - 2006

With so many people using the Internet today from shopping to banking, research to just killing time at their hourly 8-5 cubicle job in that big glass building you G.E.D. types have, we are all inundated with new website designs and layouts. Just as the term “banner blindness” was coined because web page elements that [...]

  • Throwing SEO Bones Over Cliff

    November - 21 - 2006

I just have to say how satisfying it is to mislead a competitor’s seo or webmaster by throwing out misinformation on forums you know they use as a resource. Hey, maybe in 6 months we’ll be competitors again. Hint: Using Front Page on your site places a generator tag in your source, and flags your [...]

  • Denver Web Design – Knox Split Part 2

    September - 7 - 2008

Another update about this site getting split up a little. Today “knoxing.com” is up – it’s totally unrefined but at least it’s there now.  It’s the Denver Web Design part of the Knox Solutions Co-op. Ok – it’s Web Design, SEO, iPhones and my rants.  I’m getting there. Eventually, all things “EBA” will be “Knox”.  [...]

  • electricstores.com (PUKE) Hiding Links on Client Sites

    May - 1 - 2007

I recently helped an associate who sadly was not happy with their host. So, they came to me for some REAL SEO and help. They used electricstores.com of Denver for a few years. Now, this WONDERFUL company REFUSED to allow access to their server, refused to change DNS to a new host and basically gave [...]

  • PageRankPimp, Splogger – Bites The Dust

    March - 11 - 2008

Frustrated with the same scraper splog for a while, pagerankpimp.com (many of you have noticed this in your WordPress dashboard) – I’m happy to see they have apparently been nuked. Hopefully the efforts I’ve put forth finding others scraped by them have resulted in their AdSense account being banned; hence their removing the splog, finally. [...]

  • SEO As Afterthought Can Kill Your Business

    November - 20 - 2006

I can understand the thought process. A company holds a meeting and it’s decided that they want/need a website. They shop around, gather bids and ultimately write a huge check to some firm or somebody for a state-of-the-art website with so many bells and whistles that it would make Cpt. Kirk envious. This company has [...]

Going back to what I do, I’m an SEO here in Denver. I was asked today about my little tagline I use in email: “A Denver SEO That Shoots Straight” I used to have and here it is. It’s a play on words. In my former life I was an officer. Today, I’m an SEO. [...]

I have a few requests that should have been included in the iPhone app template so here it is. How to add “content” to the home page before or within the menu. Here are some methods using the Greatest Real Estate Agent in the World app for an example. “Doug” bought me a few beers [...]
